Central Verification System Novice Training (CVS)

The Central Verification System (CVS) contains information on background investigations, credentialing determinations, suitability determinations and security clearances. This one-day course is designed for individuals who are new to using CVS and whose duties may include, but are not limited to, making reciprocity determinations and sharing data through CVS in support of reciprocity.

Upon completion of the course, attendees will:

  • Identify the reciprocity rules for credentialing, suitability, and security clearance determinations
  • State the purpose of the CVS
  • Identify the data points required to make reciprocity determinations
  • Identify CVS user responsibilities
  • Identify CVS Logon procedures
  • Select the applicable CVS Search Functions to locate reciprocity data
  • Select the applicable CVS Display Functions to view reciprocity data
  • Identify CVS user actions to support reciprocity data sharing
    • Add/update subject record
    • Add/update clearance/access information
    • Add/update polygraph record
    • Add/update Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) data
    • Create/update tool to use to support Batch file additions/updates
